ARTDICK is the artist blog of Dick Whyte. I have been making visual art since 1997 and have exhibited my paintings, films and sculptures in various galleries around New Zealand, including the Peter McLeavy Gallery, Artspace, The Physics Room, 91 Aro Street, DAF 106, the New Zealand Film Archive and the NZ International Film Festival.

I also currently play in the folk-rock-psychedelic band The Bent Folk, am a member of the NZ experimental noise group Nova Scotia (who rarely play due to geographical challenges) and make musical interventions as Supercomposer. I also co-edit Haiku News, a haiku journal dedicated to raising social consciousness in the poetic forms of haiku, senryu, tanka and kyoka. My haiku poetry has been published in numerous journals around the world, including Simply Haiku, Roadrunner, Modern Haiku, Daily Haiku, 3Lights and Frogpond.

NOTE: Often I will place quotes beneath the artworks. These are not intended as authorial readings or interpretations of the work. Nor are they intended to close the meaning of the work. They are simply indications of some of the things that were running through my head when I made the work, or how I see the work now.
