Dear Kath. Your haiku reminded me of a poem in Hebrew about the Kishinev pogrom by H. N. Bialik about how nature keeps on being beautiful and indifferent to a massacre. Thanks for a very strong image and haiku.

This tanka is divided into two parts: strophe and antistrophe (in the classical Greek sense of the word). And the concluding imagery is emotionally powerful, and it could be read as a authorial comment on this event through the objective description of natural phenomenon, one that that is tightly structured with a deep emotional; undercurrent.
Kath, an engaging read. Thanks for sharing.
