    Yes, I know the Basho poem well, and agree. I usually translate it:

    summer grasses
    all that remains of
    soldiers’ dreams

    But I like your one too. I wrote this one quite a while ago, and had been wanting to use but was waiting to hear back on a submission, so I didn’t put it up straight away.
