Who is the author?

There are two main authors on Haiku News – Laurence Stacey and Dick Whyte. This particular poem is written by Dick Whyte, which is indicated by the DW (the poems by Laurence have LS next to the title). There will be an authors page going up soon which explains all this – we just have to get the bios finished.
Thanks for the comment,
Dick Whyte

Hey Dick, this is truly one of my favorite tanka on Haiku News. This piece has an excellent pivot that really opens up the possibility for dual readings. lovely work!

Thanks Laurence – that really means a lot. I remember writing this one vividly and it feel into place with such ease, as if it was already written and all I had to do was uncover it. It always reminds me Plato’s idea that knowledge is “remembered” rather than “learned.” Sometimes I feel that certain poems are “remembered” (ie. waiting somewhere in my mind already finished) rather than “written.”
