“Acorn” is the new “N-word”: http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2009/09/acorn-is-handy-substitute-for-n-word-at.html

Its the old racism with a new “wink, wink – nudge, nudge.”

    Thanks Josh-

Man – that is so scary and fucked up!! And yeah, I agree, it is disturbing how race has become an issue again. What it proves to me is that it never went away, it was just buried and not talked about. Now that an African American president is in power, it all comes flooding out. I guess at the very least it shows us that more intensive work needs to be done on changing the way that things are perceived – particularly at the level of primary school children. But this will require parents to admit that their ideologies must be challenged by their children. They should not correct beliefs but encourage exploration of belief and thought. That is, beliefs have to become in flux, understood as fleeting, and parents need to admit that their children will learn how to make this world a better place – but that this will mean their own beliefs being revealed as out of date, as anachronistic.

I dunno – just some thoughts.

    Hope you are doing well-
    Dick
