This is one of my favourites of your recent ones Laurence. Very moving. There is a great reading here where the ‘stars’ are the rich elite. Interesting. We’ve replaced kings with performers.

Nice reading man! Next time you come visit, we’ll drive through Atlanta so you can see the area first hand.

From the first article: ‘The Metro Atlanta Task Force on Homelessness later uncovered pre-printed arrest citations that had “male, African American, homeless” typed on them, with the name and crime left blank.’

I just picked my jaw up off the floor.

Great haiku too. Reminds me of one by Issa (about the rain) except the context for this is terribly different!

That is deeply disturbing. Most of the time I believe in the goodness of the world, but institutionalised racism (as well as prejudice against the homeless) is so ingrained (along with other forms of otherism). It also has to do with a skewed sense of “value.” Values are defined by monetary earnings now, not by the goodness of your actions (according to morals and ethics).
