    Thanks, folks. The poem was written in response to the 7.1-magnitude Loma Prieta earthquake in October of 1989 in the San Francisco area. It’s hard to believe that was twenty years ago already. Another favourite poem from that time (actually, more favourite for me) is this:

    after the quake
    the weathervane
    pointing to earth
