    Another “fan” here: what I love most in this piece is the dual juxtaposition: two images within the haiku that do and do not go together plus the haiku per se and the news story. Reverberation X 2. Bravo.

    Yes, this is a version I did of a poem by Issa, such a wonderful poet. I love the unexpected justapositions in the classical Japanese poets. Another I like, that has a similar juxtaposition, is Basho’s:

    when in Kyoto
    I long to be
    in Kyoto
